Trained volunteers of SPS had since 1995 handled more than 100,000 help-seeking calls. We have also taken up some 230 cases involving high-risk suicidal elderly and launched more than 250 community education programs on elderly suicide. To maintain a good quality of the service, we have been spending considerable resources on volunteer recruiting, turning our new recruits into patient, thoughtful and attentive listeners providing emotional relief to people in sorrow and agony.
