24-hr Suicide Prevention Hotline
To reach out more desperate and suicidal callers, we sincerely invite you to be our volunteers:
To become an eligible hotline volunteer, no particular qualification is needed. All you need is a strong will to serve others, a firm service commitment and fulfill below criteria:
- Aged 21 or above;
- Willing to befriend people who are in emotional distress;
- Be obligated to provide service 12 – 14 hours a month;
- Able to undergo 3 to 6-month probation and serve on the hotline for at least 9 months;
- Pass the selection and complete the training program
Outreach Befriending Service for Suicidal Elderly
To reach out to and provide visit service for more elderly with emotional distress, we sincerely invite you to be our volunteers.
To become an eligible outreach volunteer, no particular qualification is needed. All you need is a strong will to serve the elders, a firm service commitment and fulfill below criteria:
- Aged 21 or above;
- Willing to befriend the elderly who are in emotional distress;
- Be obligated to visit the elders at least twice a month and provide 2 telephone contacts;
- Able to undergo 6-month probation and serve on the outreach service for at least 6 months;
- Pass the selection and complete the training program
Volunteers Selection and Training Program:
Community Education
To promote suicide prevention message to the public, Suicide Prevention Services organize different ongoing community educational activities, e.g. talks, exhibitions, carnivals and others. We are also promoted suicidal signs and symptoms as well as suicide prevention ways by multi-media.
To become an eligible community education volunteer, no particular qualification is needed, you just need to fulfill below criteria:
- Aged 18 or above;
- Good in presentation and communication skills;
- Complete the training program
Administration
Administrative voluntary works include some clerical works, word processing, telephone contacts, promotion and other logistics.
